An old website costs more than it looks
It doesn’t send you an invoice, so it’s easy to ignore. But every customer who lands on a site that looks out of date, loads slowly or is awkward on a phone is deciding whether to trust you, and some of them quietly leave. You never see those people. You just get fewer enquiries.
Seven signs it’s time
- It looks older than your competitors’ sites. Open two or three of theirs next to yours. If yours looks like the odd one out, that’s your answer.
- It’s hard to use on a phone. Tiny text, buttons you can’t tap, menus that don’t open. Most of your visitors are on a phone.
- You’re embarrassed to send people to it. If you’d rather say “I’ll email you the details”, the site isn’t working for you.
- It’s slow, or parts of it have stopped working. Broken forms and dead links cost you real enquiries.
- You can’t update it without asking a developer. Prices and opening hours should be a quick change, not a favour.
- It was built on something nobody supports any more. That’s a risk for security as well as looks.
- It has stopped bringing in enquiries. Sometimes that’s the most honest sign of all.
One or two of these might just need fixing. Three or more usually mean it’s time to look properly.
Redesign or tidy-up?
Not every site needs rebuilding. Sometimes the structure is fine and it needs better text, a faster setup and a few real fixes. A good designer will tell you which it is, and shouldn’t have a reason to make it sound worse than it is. We start by looking at your whole site, every page and not just the homepage, and we tell you honestly what’s still worth keeping.
What a redesign should include
- A look at the content, not just the colours. A prettier page with the same confusing text won’t bring in more customers.
- Your old addresses pointed to the new ones. Otherwise the pages people already find on Google disappear.
- Your current site staying live while the new one is built, with a clean switch-over once you’ve approved it.
- Your domain and email working throughout. Nothing should go offline mid-project.
What it costs
A redesign is priced like a new build, against one of our web design packages: Starter from €600 (up to five pages, one to two weeks), Business from €1,300 (up to twelve pages, two to three weeks) or an Online Store from €3,000. It’s agreed in writing before anything starts. If you move your hosting to us at the same time, migration is free, with no downtime.
