Cyber security and backups for businesses in Malta
Most business IT problems come down to two questions: could someone get in who should not, and could you get your data back if something went wrong? We look at both as part of IT support, with the same team that installs your network, firewall and servers.
What we look at
- Whether your backups are actually running, and whether anyone has tried restoring from them
- The firewall and the network behind it
- Who has access to what, including new starters and people who have left
- Whether computers, servers and software are being kept up to date
- Where the weak spots are, and what can wait
Backups you can rely on
A backup nobody has restored from is a hope, not a backup. Keep more than one copy of what matters, keep one of them away from the office, and check from time to time that a file really does come back.
Tell us where your data lives, on a local server, in the cloud or on a few laptops, and we will tell you plainly whether it is covered.
Running a server with us? A managed VPS option covers updates, patching, monitoring and backups.
Everyday habits that help
- A different password for every account, kept in a password manager
- Two-step sign-in on email and any account that holds money or customer data
- A pause before acting on an unexpected invoice, a changed bank detail or an urgent request
- Updates installed when they are offered, not months later
- Access removed the day someone leaves
How it works
We look at your setup, tell you honestly what it needs and put a fixed quote in writing before anything starts. We work remotely where we can and come on site when something needs hands on it.
If data has already been lost, we will try to recover it, but that is not guaranteed and is chargeable even when the outcome is not what anyone hoped. We say so before we start. A tested backup is the better answer.
Common questions
Yes. We look at what is there first and tell you honestly what it needs.
Check two things: when the last backup finished, and whether you can restore a single file from it. If nobody in the business can say, ask us to look.
Anything you could not easily recreate: accounts, customer records, documents, email and your website. If losing it would stop the business for a day, it belongs in the backup.
Not always. File syncing copies changes, including accidental deletions, so on its own it may not leave you an earlier copy to go back to. Check whether previous versions are kept and for how long.
Disconnect the affected computer from the network and contact us as soon as you can. We will look at what happened and tell you honestly what can be done.
You get a fixed quote in writing before work starts, whether it is a one-off review or an ongoing arrangement.
The people who do the work. We do not hand you to a call centre.
