The timeframes
- Up to 5 pages – live in one to two weeks
- Up to 12 pages – live in two to three weeks
- Online store, unlimited products – live in four to six weeks
Those are the timeframes published against each package, and they are the ones we work to.
What actually causes delays
Almost never the building. In practice a schedule slips for one of four reasons, and three of them sit on the client side – which is not a criticism, just worth knowing before you start.
Content
Text and images are the single biggest cause of delay. A five page site needs five pages of words, and writing them takes longer than people expect. If you can have the copy ready, or agree early that we will work from what you give us, a one week build stays a one week build.
Decisions
Design choices need someone empowered to make them. If approval has to travel through several people who are not in the same room, add a week. Naming one decision maker at the start is the cheapest thing you can do for the schedule.
Access
For a rebuild we need access to the existing site, the domain, and sometimes the email. Tracking down a login for a domain registered eight years ago by someone who has since left is a surprisingly common delay.
Scope changes
Adding a booking system halfway through is not a small change. It is better to launch the agreed site on time and add the extra afterwards – anything can be added after launch, and doing it that way keeps the original date intact.
What happens in each phase
Roughly, and in this order: we agree what the site needs to do and quote a fixed price; the structure and design are built; your content goes in; you review it and we make changes; then it goes live, with hosting, domain and email set up as part of the package.
The review stage matters. Changes at that point are expected and easy. Once a design has been finalised and agreed, later changes to it are quoted separately, so the review is the moment to be picky.
After launch
Every package includes an allowance for small text and image changes each month, from 30 minutes on the smallest plan up to two hours on the largest. That covers the normal drip of updates – a changed phone-free contact detail, a new photo, a price adjustment – without a separate invoice each time.
How to make it faster
Have your text ready, or accept that we will draft from what exists. Nominate one person to approve things. Gather your domain and hosting logins before the start. And resist adding to the scope mid-build – write those ideas down for phase two instead.
What to do next
See the packages and what each includes, or tell us your deadline and we will say honestly whether it is achievable. If it is not, we will say that rather than agree and miss it.
Let us know how we can help
Tell us what you need and we will come back within one working day with a clear proposal, pricing and timeframes.
